Volunteer Brenda

We would like to take a moment to thank a local junior high student, Brenda, for coming and volunteering at UMMA these past few weeks. She has been helping almost every day after school with the food pantry and making sure all our students and clients are able to use our facilities in a clean environment. Thank you Brenda!

Thank you to Petra & Manfred!

Wow!! We are so touched by the generosity of Petra and Manfred, two donors who have generously given their 2008 VW Golf to UMMA. They realized they didn't need the extra car, and realized our team could both handle its sale and use the proceeds from its sale to fund our programs! What a great way to start the month of May!! Thank you Petra and Manfred for your vision and dedication to our mission! If you or someone you know is interested in making an in-kind donation of a car or other asset, please contact michellegale@ummacenters.org. Your gift makes such a difference!

Here is our star volunteer, Lupe Torres, doing a spring cleaning of our food pantry! He defrosted our entire freezer WHILE answering UMMA phone calls! Great job multitasking, Lupe.

May Cooking Class!

Come to our May Cooking Class next Friday! The topic will be Kid-friendly Cooking Recipes!!! Feel free to bring your families. The event is free!

This past weekend we had MVP Dominic Rhodes from the Indiana Colts and players from the Dallas Cowboys visit UMMA. They were in Lake County as part of the organization Rhodes to Success' tour of high schools. Thankfully they were able to come stop by for a tour of our center and a discussion of how our work helps the community. We hope to have you all visit again soon!
