
Waukegan, IL (January 27, 2009) - Today The Urban Muslim Minority Alliance Center announced that Hira Siddiqui, a former Millennium Campaign Program Associate with the United Nations Development Program, will be joining the organization as Operations Manager.
"We're excited to have Hira be part of our mission here at the UMMA Center," said Ashfaq Mohiuddin, the Executive Director of the UMMA Center, "the experience and talent that she brings to the team will help us make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged in the Lake County area." As Operations Manager, part of Siddiqui's responsibilities will include establishing and maintaining relationships with community organizations in Lake County. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of working with folks that are seeking to break the cycle of poverty here in Lake County," said Siddiqui. "By empowering individuals you are allowing them to realize the opportunities that they have."
The UMMA Center's mission is to provide educational support and community resources to help fight poverty in the Lake County area. Siddiqui said she is looking forward to the challenge and is hopeful that the UMMA Center will make an impact in the Lake County Community. "When you provide education and support, you transform lives. That's what we plan to do."
